KOSOVO / THE PUBLICATION ROOM

Help a reader identify the publication they meant to find.

A useful library for reports, briefings and other approved public resources.

A library needs identities, not just files.

Three PDFs may be three editions of one report, three revisions, or three different publications. Those relationships should be modelled deliberately. We develop publication libraries with a record for the work and clear links to the files and language editions that actually exist.

Useful fields depend on the collection. A report title, issuing organisation, subject and publication year may be important; an invented date inferred from an upload folder is not. We agree which information is known, who supplies it and how uncertain records are handled before bulk import.

Try a citation from an old presentation.

A fictional reader has a citation to an English briefing but reaches an Albanian version from search. A good publication record can show the relationship and offer the English file if it is genuinely available. It should not translate a filename and pretend that another edition exists.

We test discovery by title, a relevant subject and an old direct file link. If a file has been corrected, the editorial team decides how the correction and earlier citation should be explained. Preservation of a useful public reference is a separate decision from promoting a current document.

From a folder to a maintainable collection.

The project can include collection design, migration, filters, accessible record pages and an editor workflow for new publications. PDF accessibility and permission to republish supplied material need their own review; an accessible web record alone does not repair the attached PDF.

Tell us about the collection and its readers.
